last weekend for landscape sketch workshop with Mike Hernandez

I am so glad I took this workshop. It was only 3 weekends, but I learned a lot, my eyes opened up to more color, and it was fun painting with other artist outside.  Mike is such a great instructor and artist – I hope there will be more to come.  However, it was a really hot day, and even with Kevin’s tent, I was heat struck and pretty much knocked out for the rest of the evening.

catching up on shows

Published by akiko under excursions

Went to several exhibits before closing -

First up – drooling Watkiss originals at Nucleus.

At the Motion Picture Academy were 2 shows – In the lobby was all traditional animation artwork – tons of Mary Blair paintings, Sleeping Beauty, Walt Peregoy color keys, UPA stuff, Bill Perkin’s style guide, Mike Humphries etc etc.

On the 3rd floor was set decoration display from several recent movies such as Iron man, Spiderwick, indie jones.

Here is a shot from the corner of Spiderwick set

Last but not least, I went to Santa Monica museum of art to see the Puppets show.
