felt so good to be painting in oils again!

dusting off my paint tubes.  I bought some fruits to paint and thought I should actually paint them before they go bad.. both are 6×8

on a very overcast day, I participated in a landscape painting workshop with Tim Solliday.  It was an exercise in grays which is challenging.

last weekend for landscape sketch workshop with Mike Hernandez

I am so glad I took this workshop. It was only 3 weekends, but I learned a lot, my eyes opened up to more color, and it was fun painting with other artist outside.  Mike is such a great instructor and artist – I hope there will be more to come.  However, it was a really hot day, and even with Kevin’s tent, I was heat struck and pretty much knocked out for the rest of the evening.

still with limited palette of white, yellow ochre, Ariz crimson and ultramarine blue.

#5 – this one came out crappy and I hesitate to count it as one.. looks horrible even in a small size

#6- a lot better but composition may not be satisfactory.

#2- keeping it simple

#3 is Pasadena around 7pm.

#4 is same set sup as #2 but with a white back drop. White on white is a challenge!

painting for the first time in… 2 years??  Just trying to get back into it. But this time with water soluble oils. No high expectations. Just getting mileage.
