Duncan and I contribute our fanzine “track 56″ to a APA called Kapa alpha. This month was my turn to do the cover art.

It is none other than “Superman”

Bill Perkin’s Color & Composition workshop #3

I wish we had more time than 3 days. He has so much information to cover, and unless you actuallty do them as you go, it’s hard to retain. Still being concious of notan versus chuiraroscuro, we did some complimentary colors and green gel light. the scariest of them all - green gel from the right, and red gel from the left!

Bill Perkin’s Color & Composition workshop #2

Today, we go into color. It is amazing the range of colors you can get with just the limited colors. Substituting veridian Green with Pthalo green and Alizeron Crimson with Rose madder was a new adjustment to me. Anyway, even with the addition of color, it is important to stick to your major statement - what Bill class “design matrix”.

Bill Perkin’s Color & Composition workshop #1

Marshall’s animal drawing workshop is over. Usually after his workshops, I go into accoma due to info overload and brain malfunction. But this time I don’t have the luxury to because Bill Perkin’s workshop starts today!! August has been a heck of a workshop month.

today, we start with black and white. The idea of chiaroscuro and notan. Hi key and low key. Your major statement and secondary “stuff”

marshall’s animal anatomy #4

Tonight was the last day for this intense workshop. We covered neck and head, and other animals like cows, girraffe etc. Most of them are variations of horse and cats.

We were also introduced to H. Kley’s work. I had his book for a while, but I didn’t understand the significance and greatness of his work till today - after learning about animal anatomy etc.

Although I am glad the commute to Fullerton (during rush hours) is over, this was a workshop I wish didn’t end.

continuing with the “blue” theme. The idea of this challenge is also to paint everyday. We’ll see how long I last.
