could it be? could it be?

Filed under: JABBERWOCKY — admin @ 7:03 am

yes, it is the 1 year anniversary post for my blog!

Well, there’s been some months that I didn’t post at all, so it’s not exactly 1 year.. Anyway, looking back, the good changes are that I am actually working now. The bad thing is that I have totally stopped painting in oils.. Looking at the drawings, I remember every moment that I was sketching, at a glance - even from a year ago. It seems so effective than words.

ran the 5K race

It was a gloomy day - perfect running weather. I have not ran in almost 3 years. I knew I would be hurting, but just wanted to get out.

a very liberating post

Filed under: JABBERWOCKY — admin @ 8:14 am

I haven’t been happy with my sketches, and I’ve put some thought into it, analyzed the problem etc etc.  But I came across these blog entries by “Temple of the Seven Golden Camels”.  It was so liberating.  What he writes is so true.  I am wasting my time pressuring myself to “perfect” a “drawing”, instead of “sketching” and learning.  It’s ok that they’re not great like all the wonderful “sketchbooks” and sketchblogs out there. The point is to try, capture what you saw, learn, and improve.  And that the only way is mileage. Great great posts..

balance

Filed under: JABBERWOCKY — admin @ 11:55 pm

Prepare for some serious jabberwocky -
balancing work, inputs and outputs -
As I define it, inputs are everything from movies, books, master copies, studies, visit to the musem and galleries, travels, etc.
Outputs are my own work.
Work is - well, work..and I am lucky to draw all day everyday for work.
But I am not balanced at the moment.
It’s been almost 6 month since I last painted for real.
I’ve set up this blog to push myself to create on a daily basis.
It has stalled several times.
How do I get back into shape??
There are many many inspirational artists out there - all accessible on the cyber world.
I visit their blogs and get motivated.
Then I go to their links that connect hundreds more -
then I get overwelmed and realise it’s 3am.

Finally open to the public again - but with reservation system. Still, it’s great to go back there. They have a totally new exhibit in the lower level.

major back-log

Filed under: JABBERWOCKY — admin @ 11:00 pm

I’ve fallen behind on keeping up this blog. I am going to cheat a little here and update them on the dates that the works were produced. - so that it doesn’t look like I wasn’t doing anything for weeks.. -_-

right brain wanna-be

Filed under: JABBERWOCKY — admin @ 10:21 pm

I’m helping a friend with his flash based website.  I’ve been working on it all day.  I hate to admit that webdesign and scripting and computer stuff comes to me easier than creating an illustration or doing development work. That’s because the art of creating is more challenging, with endless possibilities. and it’s like competeing with your own self. You set your own bar. And the bar is always moving up.

well.. what ever.
